With the final stage now completed, local residents can now safely walk or cycle along the entire length of Claymore Road.

“I am pleased that the project has been completed ahead of schedule, ready for when students return to school,” Mr Bleijie said.

“This was an issue of concern to many residents in Sippy Downs, highlighted by the 629 signatures on a Parliamentary petition and e-petition that I tabled in Parliament last year.

“Cr Christian Dickson, the Sippy Downs community and I have been working together to fast track this project and the funding that was provided by the State last year ensured that the project could be completed earlier than was anticipated,” Mr Bleijie said.

Cr Dickson said he was pleased to see such a great community initiative coming to fruition in a time when the demand from local residents and students was at it’s highest.

“I’ve been very concerned for a number of years about the lack of a safe pedestrian access along Claymore Road and the risks this posed to school children who walk the route to and from Chancellor State College,” he said.

“This new pathway is a culmination of nearly four years of collaborated effort on behalf of the Sippy Downs community.

“It is extremely satisfying to have all levels of government and community representatives working together to deliver exceptional results for our local area.”

“I am advised that the local Police have already received feedback about the safety improvements,” Mr Bleijie said.
